Rock Barrel

We seem to drive and drive along Sherman Street which is not very long. This is not a place that I want to be at night. When we finally found the store, it didn't look very impressive. But when we went in, it was a hidden treasure. When I say treasure, it's really treasure. Not diamonds but rocks. We went on Thursday but couldn't get enough and went again on Saturday. You get so engrossed, you wouldn't even know who else was at the store. Beads, rocks, and pearls all over the store. Young and old are fascinated with the rocks. It's all so sensual. You hold them in your hands and feel the smoothness and coldness. Then you look at them and see the beauty and uniqueness of each rock. If you have nowhere to go, just pop into the store and look at what God has created.

Storytelling Festival in Frisco

I always love a festival...a storytelling festival! October 8 - 9 at Frisco Public Library, Frisco Square
http://www.lonestarstories.org/

And storytelling is one of my passion.
Use storytelling to keep the children quiet. When I was a working as a Children's Minister in Singapore, the Sunday School teachers would implore me, "Tell a story quickly. The children are getting restless."
Use storytelling to make your sermons, or presentations more alive, real, interesting, and stimulating. Look at the good preachers, they are also good storytellers.
Use storytelling to waken a child's imagination.
The art of storytelling entails 3 different components: the storyteller, the story and the listener. The components are the corners of a triangle. Each corner must be well-balanced. The storyteller has to take on the story and watch the listeners to know how to engage them. Different parts of the story need explanation, drama and movement, change of voice and facial expressions, and response from the listeners.

Don't miss the festival!

Something New for the Week

We have been doing something new for the week for the past 4 years now.
Here are a list of things that we do... (I am doing this from memory of what we did for the past 4 years!)

Attended a kid's basketball game (only first time counted)
Went for an estate sale (only first time counted)
Went to restaurants that we've never been to (we have tried so many...)
Check out a store or mall that we've never been to (we love this!)
Play a new game (on-line or board game)
Check out a new garden or park (we love this!)
Drive to a nearby lake (this is a seasonal wow!)
Go for a open house - property, fitness center or animal shelter
Go to Canton First Monday Flea Market
Go to an Art Festival - like Cottonwood Art Festival
Try out a new recipe (another favorite)
Invite someone to our place for dinner - someone who has never been to our place

Protect your Identity

New this week - No 3

I removed my name and address from the Credit Bureau so that I won't receive any more pre-approved Credit Card Offers.

It's really quite easy. But you have to be able to speak English.

Stray Dog

New this week - No. 2

There is a stray dog in my house. My neighbor across the street brought the dog into my house. She said that she thought it was my new dog. The dog is black and white and does not have a tag. It has a collar but no tag. So what do I do now? I don't know - this is new to me.

Moom

New this week - No. 1

Natural hair waxing. We went down to Natural Grocers to see what they have that is a natural hair removal. We bought this small kit for about $5.

Name of product: MOOM.

We brought it back and I became the guinea pig. I opened the package and read it. Sounds really simple. I opened up the bottle and got the stick ready to apply. It was a very sticky substance made mainly out of sugar!

So Ivy applied it to under my arms. And I made the first mistake. I put my arms down. Boy! After a little effort of not pulling my skin apart, I put on the cotton cloth and got ready to rip it all off. It really worked! Give and Take. It gave me lots of white cotton fibers and took off what it was supposed to take.

Pain - Of course, it was painful. But we had lots of laugh.

Was the product worth it? Yes. I think I can use it another 30 times.
Will I use it again? Yes, but I need to remember not to put my arms down.
